Saturday sports day

I would like to apologize for today's shortness in posting. I have been extremely busy this weekend.

Last nights recap:
#22 Cornell 64 at Pennsylvania 79: This was a game that shocked me to say the least. An impressive Cornell team walks into 4-15 Penn and loses. Cornell was trailing one at half, but everyone felt they were going to be the team with more points at the end of the game, well that was not the case when the Quakers outscored the Big Red 47-33 in the second half. Penn also started off the half on an impressive 15-0 run. Cornell leaders senior center Jeff Foote (10 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks) and guard Ryan Wittman (16 points). Although having decent games it was not enough for Jack Eggleston (Penn) and his career high 24 points. Also Zach Rosen adding a helpful22 points and six assist.

#4 West Virginia 95 at #23 Pittsburgh 98: This clash of two ranked Big East teams was a game for the ages. It had just about every aspect to an exciting game. Intense three pointers, blown opportunities, executed opportunities, and a hostile enviorment. After loosing earlier in the year to West Virginia, Pitt was not going to let the same thing happen on their own home court. After three brutal overtimes WV leaders Da'Sean Butler (32 points, 11 rebounds, three assist) and Devin Ebanks (17 points, 10 rebounds) suffered the tough conference loss on the road. WV although controlling most of the game, could not keep Pitt's Ashton Gibbs and Brad Wanamaker (24 points each) from keeping Pitt in the game long enough to make a late game run. Pitt star Gilbert Brown also knocking down crucial free throws to end the game.

Today's intriguing top 25:

8:00 PM EST Iowa State (13-11) (2-7 Big 12) at #1 Kansas (23-1) (9-0 Big 12): Every KU basketball game is a big game in Lawrence. #1 Kansas hosts Big 12 foe Iowa State at The Allen Field House. Kansas leaders Sherron Collins (15.6 ppg, 2.1 rpg, and 4.3 apg) and Cole Aldrich (11.4 ppg, 10 rpg, and 3 bpg) will be looking to lead KU to a victory over Craig Brackins (16.8 ppg, 8.4 rpg, and 2.3 asp) and the Cyclones. Look for Kansas to win this game with relative ease playing one of Big 12's up and coming teams at home.

9:00 PM EST #12 Tennessee (18-5) (6-3 SEC) at #2 Kentucky (23-1) (8-1 SEC): Tennessee is not sure what they are going to get themselves into tonight in Lexington. Demarcus Cousins and John Wall will lead this Kentucky Wildcat team to a victory at home in front of the Wildcat faithful.

2:00 PM EST Providence (12-12) (4-8 Big East) at # 5 Villanova (21-2) (10-1 Big East): Villanova is playing a weaker Providence team in Philly. Although Providence has shown strength at times, they will not have enough to take down Scottie Reynolds and Nova at home today.

8:00 PM EST #20 Georgia Tech (17-7) (5-5 ACC) at Wake Forest (17-5) ( 7-3 ACC): Derrick Favors and Iman Shumpert go on the road today to face Al-Farouq Aminu and Wake Forrest. Wake Forrest has shown promise at times and disappointment at others. Look for GT to offer too much and take this conference game on the road.
