Wellington Wednesday

Last Night's Recap:
Nuggets 104 at Knicks 109: Danilo Gallinari gets the best of the Nuggets as he goes off for 28 points on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. Although the game was led by Carmelo Anthony who added 36 points himself, the Nuggets could not pull off the win on the road.

Clippers 96 at Mavericks 106: Despite Dirk's ejection it was Jason Kidd's night. On his 37th birthday J Kidd had 26 points and 12 assist. Not to shabby considering he did int have his favorite Forward to dish it to the whole game. Drew Gooden adding 26 points and 10 rebounds for the Clippers.

Tonight's Games:
7:00 PM EST Orlando Magic (50-21) (22-14 away) at Atlanta Hawks (45-24) (28-7 home): The Magic and Dwight Howard (18.5 ppg and 13.1 rpg) head into ATL to face Joe Johnson (21.5 ppg and 4.8 apg) and the Hawks. Both teams having expected seasons as they face off tonight at the Phillips Arena. Although the Magic look for seven straight wins on the Hawks; Joe Johnson and his team have not yet clinched a post season spot, and every game is that much more important. Look for the Hawks to take this game at home.

7:00 PM EST Denver Nuggets (47-24) (17-18 away) at Boston Celtics (45-25) (21-12 home): The road woes continue for the Nuggets as they head into Boston to face Rajon Rando (13.7 ppg and 2.4 spg) and the Celtics. The Nuggets led by Carmelo Anthony (28.9 ppg and 6.7 rpg) head into TD Garden. Look for the Celtics to take this one at home.

Los Angeles Lakers (52-18) (20-13 away) at San Antonio Spurs (42-27) (25-10 home): Kobe Bryant (27.6 ppg and 5 apg) head into San Antonio to take on Tim Duncan (18.4 ppg and 10.3 rpg). The trend continues for the day as I will again go with the home team. The Lakers without Bynum.. San Antonio plays good at home. Look for the Spurs to take this one.

Timely Tuesday

So I know I forgot to post yesterday, but I am back in action and ready to start talking about some NBA basketball.

7:30 PM EST Denver Nuggets (47-23) (17-17 away) at New York Knicks (25-45) (15-22 home): The Nuggets come into MSG to take on David Lee (20.2 ppg and 11.8 rpg) and the Knicks. Its been no secret about the struggles that the Knicks have faced over the last few years, even on their own home court. The Nuggets and Carmelo Anthony (28.8 ppg and 3.4 apg) come off a home loss to Milwaukee. Look for Denver to take this game on the road.

8:30 PM EST Los Angeles Clippers (26-44) (7-28 away) at Dallas Mavericks (46-24) (24-11 home): The Clippers come into Dallas to take on Dirk Nowitzki (24.9 ppg and 2.6 apg) and the Mavericks. Dallas has had a very successful year especially at home. Unfortunately the same can not be said for the struggling Clippers. Chris Kaman ( 18.6 ppg and 9.1 rpg) tries to lead his time to their 8th road win of the year. Although Dallas is coming off a loss at NO in their last game look for them to walk away as the winners.

Forgetful Friday

I am gonna make this short because I still feel sick and heartbroken from the Kansas game. I will no longer be covering the NCAA tournament for some personal reasons. Mostly because I will get to worked up from even reading about them. I will continue on Monday with posting every day and will get back to the NBA. Still gotta support my team though.. Rock Chalk

Bubble Time

Big 12 Tournament Day One:

12:30 PM EST Texas Tech (16-14) (4-12 Big 12) vs Colorado (15-15) (6-10 Big 12): A matchup of two of the Big 12's weaker teams as Mike Singletary (14.8 ppg and 6.8 rpg) tries to lead the Red Raiders to a first round win against Cory Higgins (19 ppg and 2.4 apg) and the Buffs. Now both these teams will not be making the tournament unless they pull off the unthinkable and win out; but back to real life look for the Red Raiders to advance to see another day.

3:00 PM EST Nebraska (14-17) (2-14 Big 12) vs Missouri (22-9) (10-6): Marcus Denmon (11 ppg and 3.1 rpg) and the NCAA tourney bound Mizzou Tigers take on Ryan Anderson (11 ppg and 5.2 rpg) and the Cornhuskers. Nebraska struggled all year with Big 12 opponents and don't expect that to stop now. Look for Mizzou to take this game.

7:00 PM EST Oklahoma (13-17) (4-12 Big 12) vs Oklahoma State (21-9) (9-7 Big 12): Willie Warren (16.3 ppg and 4.1 apg) and Oklahoma come into the conference tournament with a must win mentality. Oklahoma unless winning the tourney will not be playing in late March. Look James Anderson (22.9 ppg and 6 rpg) and Oklahoma State to take this first round game.

9:30 PM EST Iowa State (15-16) (4-12 Big 12) vs Texas (23-9) (9-7 Big 12) Damion James (17.7 ppg and 10.2 rpg) and Texas take on Iowa State and Craig Brackins (16.5 ppg and 8.6 rpg). I would love to pick Iowa State in this game coming off a big win in Manhattan against K-State, and especially because I am really not feeling Texas at all. But I am going to have to pick Texas to win this game.

Big East Tournament Day 2:

2:00 PM EST St. Johns (17-14) (6-12 Big East) vs Marquette (20-10) (11-7 Big East): D.J. Kennedy (15.1 ppg and 6.2 rpg) and St. Johns take on Lazar Hayward (18 ppg and 7.8 rpg) and Marquette. St. Johns coming off a good win against UConn yesterday play Marquette today. Look for Marquette to take this tourney game.

7:00 PM EST Seton Hall (19-11) (9-9 Big East) vs Notre Dame (21-10) (10-8 Big East): I have a hatred for Notre Dame that goes all the way back to when I was a little kid. All hatred aside I have been very impressed with the way they have played thus far with and without "The Goat", but I like Seton Hall to take this game. Playing at its best at the right time.

9:00 PM EST Cincinnati vs Louisville: Look for Louisville to take this game.

That time of year

With the excitement of Conference tournaments and The NCAA Tournament this month, it is hard for myself not to jump on the bandwagon. That is why for the next few weeks I will be commenting on mostly all tourney games.

Big East Tournament Day 1:
12:00 PM EST Depaul (8-22) (1-17 Big East) vs South Florida (19-11) (9-9 Big East): Man I would love to be able to pick Depaul and feel confident in my decision, but unfortunately I cant. Even though Depaul with players like Will Walker (16 ppg 2.9 apg) and possible future NBA prospect Mac Koshwal (16.6 ppg and 10.1 rpg) they have not been able to get it done this year. Although i think they will play SF tough today look for big time player Dominique Jones (21.3 ppg and 6.1 rpg) and the USF Bulls to take this first round Big East game.

2:00 PM EST St. Johns (16-14) (6-12 Big East) vs Connecticut (17-14) (7-11 Big East): Connecticut has the talented players and the talented coach to be a tournament team, but they have not played that way at all this year and that's why I feel they shouldn't be in the field of 65 come selection Sunday. Personally i feel this is a must win game for UConn seeing that their tournament life is dwindling. Look for leaders Kemba Walker (14.9 ppg and 5.2 apg) and Jerome Dyson (17.7 ppg and 4.4 rpg) to extend UConn's season another day.

7:00 PM EST Providence (12-18) (4-14 Big East) vs Seton Hall (18-11) (9-9): Although I am a big fan of Jamine Peterson (19 ppg and 10 rpg), I dont think he has what it takes to take Providence past Seton Hall and guard Jeremy Hazell ( 21.2 ppg and 3.4 rpg). Look for Seton Hall to take this first round game.

9:00 PM EST Rutgers (15-16) (5-13 Big East) vs Cincinnati (16-14) (7-11 Big East): Mike Rosario (16.4 ppg) and Rutgers take on Lance Stephenson (12 ppg 5.3 rpg) and Cincy. Tonight's game at MSG will be the end of the first day of the Big East Tournament. Look for Cincy to take Rutgers in this first round game.

Thankful Thursday

I am going to dedicate today's post to Chicago Native, Jayhawk great, and more importantly the all the time winningest player in Kansas history; Sherron Collins. Unfortunately I was not in attendance for last night's game vs Kansas State, but if anyone saw the highlights you could see truly how crazy the atmosphere was for Sherron's last game. Sherron thus far has had a storybook career at Kansas, and what better way to add to the story than playing against you rival, friend (Jacob Pullen), and in front of a crowd of 15,000 plus cheering your every move at historic Allen Field House. The game started slow for Collins as he started with a dismal 1-10 from the field. This was not the case for the rest of Jayhawk team as they jumped to a 18-6 lead with a few quick threes from Xavier Henry (led team with 19 pts) and all around good play. As Celemente and K-State tied the game at 45 around the 17 minute mark, it was all Sherron and the Jayhawks. Sherron doing what he does best and hits quick shot after quick shot. Soon the 1-10 shooting was changed to 5-5 from the field and 6-6 from the FT line, giving Sherron 17 points in his final game at Allen Field House. After Kansas took command of the game and it was time for Collins to exit the game he burried his face into Junior center Cole Aldrich (Most likely playing his last game at Phog Allen). As Collins exited the game the Lawrence faithful roared with appluase and cheers for their pride and joy Sherron Collins. Collins became emotional as the team all put on their Big 12 Champions shirts; and the actual reality of leaving Lawrence settled in. During Collins post-game speech he thanked his brothers on the team, his family, and the fans for all they have done for him. Sherron also went on to thank every coach individually. After the tears and rejocye Collins made it clear that this team is not done. Other than wining their sixth Big 12 title in a row, the team had other goals one of them obviously being winning the ship. When looking at Collin's career he ends as KU's all time winning player and honestly too many achievements to list. Adding another Championship would only make his resume that much more impressive. I would like to thank Sherron Collins for all the excitement and joy he has brought to not only me, but all the fans in Lawrence. We also look forward to the speech at the field house after KU takes the NCAA tournament.

Wellington Wednesday

Tonight's Games:
9:00 PM EST Thunder (36-23) (17-12 away) at Nuggets (39-21) (25-5 home): Carmelo Anthony (28.6 ppg and 6.3 rpg) and the Denver Nuggets try to get back on the winning track with a win tonight at home. Kevin Durant (29.8 ppg and 7.6 rpg) takes the young and surprising Thunder on the road to face a tough Western Conference opponent. Look for Denver to take this one at home.

8:00 PM EST #5 Kansas State(24-4) (11-3 Big 12) at #2 Kansas: (27-2) (13-1 Big 12): Senior night for Kansas, and more importantly the last game for Senior Sherron Collins (15.3 ppg and 4.3 apg) at Allen Field House. Although it will most likely be a emotional night at Phog Allen; look for the Jayhawks to come out and give it all they got against another Chicago native Jacob Pullen (18.5 ppg and 3.8 apg) and their rivals the K-State Wildcats. Look for KU to take this Big 12 game at home.

#4 Duke (25-4) (12-2 ACC) at #23 Maryland (21-7) (11-3 ACC): Greivis Vasquez (19.5 ppg and 6.4 apg) plays his last game at Maryland as the Terps take on John Scheyer (18.5 ppg and 5.3 apg) and the Duke Blue Devils. Although this will be a very tough game; look for the Terps to take the W on their home court on Senior Night.

#3 Kentucky (27-2) (12-2 SEC) at Georgia (13-14) (5-9 SEC): Look for Kentucky to take care of business in this game.

Indiana (9-13) (3-13 Big 10) at #6 Purdue (24-4) (12-4 Big 10): Look for Purdue to handle IU in West Lafeyette.

TCU (13-16) (5-9 MWC) at #10 New Mexico (27-3) (13-2 MWC): Look for New Mexico to get the win at home.

Arkansas (14-15) (7-7 SEC) at #13 Tennessee (21-7) (9-5 SEC): Look for the Volunteers to take care of the Razorbacks at home.

#15 BYU (26-4) (11-3 MWC) at Utah (14-14) (7-7 MWC): Look for BYU to win the tough game on the road.

#16 Temple (24-5) (12-2 A-10) at Saint Louis (19-9) (10-4 A10): Look for Saint Louis to pull off the upset at home vs A10 foe Temple.

Iowa (10-19) (4-12 Big 10) at #17 Wisconsin (21-7) (11-5 Big 10): Wisconsin will take the home game against the Hawkweyes.

Oklahoma State (20-12) (8-6 Big 12) at #24 Texas A&M (20-8) (9-5 Big 12): Even though with a good win against Kansas; look for A&M to handle state at home.

Tasteful Tuesday

Last Night's Recap:
Knicks 93 at Cavaliers 124: The Cavs were relentless last night. With 74 points at half the Cavs looked just fine with J.J. Hickson (17 points, nine rebounds, and four assist) starting at Center for the first time in his young career, for the injured Shaq. Bill Walker (received from trade with Boston) led the way for the Knicks with 21 points and five rebounds. The TMAC watch continued as McGrady had six points and five assist.

Nuggets 85 at Suns 101: Grant Hill led the way for the Suns with 19 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. As the the two top scoring teams in the NBA met. Chauncey Billups led the way for the Nuggets with 21 points, four assist, and two steals. The Nuggets playing their second game in as many nights struggled. Also the Sun's bench with 37 added points also did not help.

#20 Georgetown 68 at #8 West Virginia 81: With Georgetown leading scorer Austin Freeman out with the flu, and it being senior night in Morgantown, it seemed inevitable. De'Sean Butler in his last game in WV ended with 22 points, six rebounds, and six assist. For Georgetown Greg Monroe was the leader with 22 points, nine rebounds, and four assist.

Oklahoma 76 at #25 Texas 87: Texas has been struggling as of late, and not much looked different yesterday. After trailing in the first half Texas and Damion James (24 points and eight rebounds) powered through Tony Crocker (24 points and two steals) and the Sooner's to get the W at home.

Manic Monday

I would like to apologize for my lack of posting over the weekend. I was busy with some things, and could not post. I will continue with the posting as usual.

7:00 PM EST #13 Georgetown (19-8) (9-7 Big East) at #7 West Virginia (22-6) (11-5 Big East): Greg Monore ( 15.7 ppg and 9.4 rpg) and the Hoyas come into Morgantown after a loss at home vs Hargondy-less Notre Dame. De'Sean Butler (16.9 ppg and 6.1 rpg) and the Mountaineers With Syracyuse already clinching a share of the Big East title, look for the Mountaineers to take this Big East match up at home.

9:00 PM EST Oklahoma (13-15) (4-10 Big 12) at #21 Texas (22-7) (8-6 Big 12): Rick Barnes and Texas have not had the ideal season since becoming the number one team in the country a few months ago. Texas has struggled with the rough Big 12 this year as they host one of the Big 12's weaker opponents; Oklahoma. Look for Damion James (17.5 ppg and 10.5 rpg) to lead the Longhorns to the home win.

7:00 PM EST Knicks (20-38) (8-18 away) at Cavaliers (46-14) (25-4): Lebron James ( 30 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 8.5 apg) and the Cavs face McGrady (8.1 ppg and 2.3 apg) and the Knicks go on the road.
