Wishful Wednesday

Last Night's Recap:
#4 Syracuse 99 at Providence 85: It was career game for Rick Jackson (28 points, nine rebounds, three assist, three steals, and two blocks) as the he helped the Orangeman take this Big East conference game on the road. Andy Rautin's also had a great game adding an addition 28 points in last nights game. Jamine Peterson was on spot again for Providence finishing with 23 points and six rebounds.

#13 Georgetown 70 at Louisville 60: Georgetown won an impressive road game yesterday at Louisville. Going on the road to face another super sophomore in Samardo Samuels (11 points) and guard Edgar Sosa (24 points and eight assist), Greg Monroe and his Hoyas had their hands full. After impressive games by Austin Freeman (29 points and four assist) and Greg Monroe (16 points and five assist) the Hoyas bounce back, and in a big way. Good win for the men at Georgetown.

#6 Kansas State 83 at Texas Tech 64: Jacob Pullen (28 points and five rebounds) leads the way for the Wildcats as they headed into Lubbock to take on the Red Raiders. John Roberson led the way for the Red Raiders with 15 points and three assist. Kansas State did a nice job handling business on the road. Good win.

#19 Tennessee 62 at Florida 75: Chandler Parsons led the floor for Florida with 19 points and eight rebounds as the Gators upset the Volunteers in Gainsville last night. Scotty Hopson led the way with 20 points and four rebounds for Tennessee but that was not enough to keep the Gators from walking away victors. Florida now is in sole possession of 4th in the SEC, making it self a tournament resume.

#10 New Mexico 72 at Colorado State 66.

BIG UPSET OF THE NIGHT: #25 Northern Iowa 54 at Evansville 55.

Phoenix 104 at Oklahoma City 102: A great game last night in OKC as the Suns came into town without Steve Nash and were still able to come out with the win. With help from J-Rich's winner, Amare Stoudemire was the main contributor with 30 points and nine rebounds. Kevin Durant (NBA's leading scorer) ended with 36 points eight rebounds as they take the tough loss at home. The Suns pick up another quality win on the road.

LA Lakers 99 at Memphis 98: Kobe back in the lineup and did not miss a beat. Kobe (32 points, seven rebounds, six assist) hit a three to give the Lakers the lead with 4.3 seconds left, and you have to wonder how he does it. It seems inevitable these days that Kobe with the ball at the end of a close game= Lakers victory. I like those odds and this game is another fine example of Kobe's ridiculousness.

Tonights Games:
LA Lakers (43-14) at Mavericks (36-21): Kobe (28 ppg) and the Lakers are at it again in another city now. They head to Dallas to take on Dirk Nowitzki (24.7 ppg and 7 rpg) and the Dallas Mavs. The Lakers are coming off a tough win on the road last night and don't expect them to pull it off again. Although it will be a close game look for the Mavs to win this game.

#9 Ohio State (21-4) (11-7 Big 10) at Penn State (10-16) (2-12 Big 10): Evan Turner (19.5 ppg and 9.5 rpg) and the Buckeye's head into Penn State to take on a struggling Nintny Lion team. Evan Turner is the real deal; you name it he can do it. Look for Turner to lead Ohio State to conference win on the road.

#22 Texas A&M (19-7) (8-4 Big 12) at Baylor (20-6) (7-5 Big 12): LaceDarius Dunn (18.9 ppg and 4.6 rpg) and the Baylor Bears welcome tough Big 12 opponent; Donald Sloan (17.9 ppg) and Texas A&M. Both teams are headed in the right place as they are both solidifying their tournament roster. Look for Baylor to take this game at home.

Oklahoma State (19-7) (9-5 Big 12) at # 21 Texas (21-6) (7-5 Big 12): Look for Texas to take this game at home.

Top 25 winners tonight: Purdue, Villanova, ND, BYU, and Temple very close over Dayton.

TMAC WATCH- The Knick's played yet again last night; TMAC's line was six points and eight assist

Timely Tuesday

Last Night's Recap:
Bulls 95 at Wizards 101: Andray Blatche has been the story for the Washington Wizards since the trade deadline. After Washington shipped away its star players Jamison (Cavs) and Butler (Mavs) Andray Blatche has been stepping it up. The same guy who complained that there was not enough plays drawn up for him a few years ago, Blatche yesterday had 25 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks. Blatche feels that he finally has gotten the opportunity and is taking full advantage of it. Bulls can not get their fifth win in a row on the road at the Verizon Center. Bulls leader was Derrick Rose with 22 points, six assist, and five rebounds.

Hawks 105 at Jazz 100: Well I will be the first to admit that I did not do my homework on this game. The wounded Jazz played without Deron Williams and Andrei Kirilenko, and came off an exhausting game in Portland. Even with Atlanta's 17 year loosing streak in Utah, the Hawks led by Joe Johson (28 points six rebound six assist) played a tough game on the road. Carlos Boozer led the way for the Jazz with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assist.

Oklahoma 68 at #1 Kansas 81: All was right at Allen Field House on Monday night as the Jayhawks took the court. With a few games left in conference play, and one of the last home games for seniors every game is a big deal. Freshman Xavier Henry stole the show last night with 23 points, five rebounds, and two blocks. Xavier seemed untouchable in the first half, making many acrobatic layups and an array of three pointers. Taylor Mason-Griffin was the leader for the struggling Sooners with 17 points, two rebounds, eight assist. The Jayahwks take this game and their 58th straight home win (leading among active home win streaks).

#7 West Virginia 62 at Connecticut 73: UConn continues to make it difficult for tournament committees to pick weather they are in or out. With wins over quality Big East teams such as WV and Villanova, UConn at times looks like a tournament team and at times they don't even look NIT bound. With stellar play from Stanley Robinson (15 points 13 rebounds one steal) and Kemba Walker, who added 21 to Huskies attack, UConn was able to upset Devin Ebanks (17 points nine rebounds one block) and the Mountaineer's.

Tonight's preview:
7:00 PM EST #4 Syracuse (25-2) (12-2 Big East) at Providence (12-14) (4-10 Big East): Wesley Johnson(16.8 ppg and 8.7 rpg) takes Cuse on the road to face a weaker Big East opponent. Although Providence and Jamine Peterson (18.9 ppg and 10.1 rpg) are nothing to look over, especially on their home court, Look for the Orangemen to walk away with the win.

7:00 PM EST #13 Georgetown (18-7) (8-6 Big East) at Louisville (18-9) (9-5 Big East): I am a huge supporter of sophomore Greg Monroe (15.7 ppg and 3.7 rpg) I think the guy is awesome, and has a very bright future ahead of him. With all this being said I am still going to have to go with Samando Samuels (16.1 ppg and 7.1 rpg) and the Louisville Cardinals to take this one at home.

8:00 PM EST #6 Kansas State (22-4) (9-3 Big 12) at Texas Tech (16-10) (4-8 Big 12): In Lubbock K-State and Jacob Pullen (18.5 ppg and 3.7 apg) come into town looking to still try to take a share of the Big 12 title. Texas Tech has lost three in a row coming into this game and will be looking for a win on their own home court. If an upset is going to take place forward Mike Singletary (15.2 ppg nd 6.7 rpg) will need to have a lasting impact on the game. Look for K-State to win on the road in Lubbock.

9:00 PM EST #17 Tennessee (20-6) (8-4 SEC) at Florida (19-8) (8-4 SEC): Wayne Chisim (13.1 ppg and 7.2 rpg) and the Volunteers head to Gainsville to take on a tough Florida team. Look for Alex Tyus (12.5 ppg and 7.0 rpg) to pull of the upset at home in front of the home crowd.

8:00 PM EST Suns (34-23) (14-16 away) at Thunder (33-21) (16-10 home): Amare Stoudemire (21.3 ppg and 8.8 ppg) and the Phoenix Suns head into OKC to face a red hot Thunder team. Leading the way for the Thunder is Kevin Durant (29.8 ppg and 7.5 rpg). Durant has been on fire as of late trying to lead the Thunder to it's first 10 game winning streak ever. Since im such a KD supporter im going to have to take my man against the Suns.

8:00 PM EST Lakers (42-14) (16-9 away) at Grizzlies (28-27) (18-10 home): Kobe Bryant (28 ppg and 1.7 spg) possibly makes his debut after missing the last five games. The Lakers will be happy to receive one of the games top players back in the lineup, especially going to play a very tough Memphis team at home. For the griz Zach Randolph (20.4 ppg and 11.7 rpg) leads the way, as the Memphis tries to prove they are for real. If Kobe is back for this game, look for the Lakers to take the tough game.

TMAC WATCH: Tracy McGrady led the way for the Knicks with 15 points and 4 rebounds. Another successful game for TMAC as he makes his come back, game again tonight at Celtics. Lets see how Kneemac plays after a night of back to back road games.

I would also like to congratulate Cole Aldrich on an impressive off-the-court accomplishment. Cole was named College Basketball's Academic Player of the Year. This is an honor to recive this award out of all the student-athletes that were up for the award. Congrats Cole!

Last Nights Recap:
#3 Villanova 65 at # 19 Pittsburgh 70: A tough game for both Big East teams, as the Big East continues to tear each other up. Scottie Reynolds led the attack for the Wildcats with 20 points and three assists. The noticeable weakness with Villanova as of late is their weak defense. Teams that play lackluster defense such as Nova do not make deep runs in the NCAA tournament. I feel that is what keeping them out of the talk of elite teams this year. Ashton Gibbs led the way for Pitt with 21 points and two assists.

#9 Ohio State 74 at #11 Michigan State 67: Evan Turner and the Buckeyes head into East Lansing to complete the upset against Tom Izzo and the Spartans. Evan Turner led the way with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and six assist. William Buford also adding 17 to the cause. Raymar Morgan led the way for Sparty with nine points and 14 rebounds. Watching some of Ohio State's games this year there seems to be a trend if the Buckeye's will win or loose. If Evan Turner gets any supporting help from someone on the team than the Buckeye's come out with victories. In East Lansing yesterday four out of five starters were in double figures.

Northwestern 63 at #14 Wisconsin 70: Jason Bohannan led the way at the Kohl Centre for the Badgers on Sunday afternoon. Bohannan had 17 points and three rebounds on Sunday. Shurna led the way for Northwestern with 26 points and four rebounds. I have to give to Northwestern for making this a much closer game. I know there were some crucial free throw misses, but in Madison is not an easy place to play by any mean, and that Northwestern team showed poise and maturity to comeback and outscore the Badgers in the 2nd half.

Cavaliers 95 at Magic 101: This game was a close game at all times. Both teams going back and forth, exchanging three point play for three point play, dunk for dunk, and so on... Lebron James led the way for the Cavs with 33 points, nine rebounds, and six assist. Jamison in his second games with the Cavs was much more productive adding 19 points in 31 minutes of the bench. Dwight Howard had 22 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Magic to the victory in front of their home crowd. The game came to a close with the Magic on an impressive run including two threes by Jameer Nelson and three straight baskets by Vince Carter, who was absent for most of the game. The Cavs suffer their first three game loosing streak in two years.

Boston 105 at Denver 114: Chauncy Billup's led the way with 26 points and seven assists for the Nuggets Sunday, while Ray Allen led the Celtics with 25 points and five rebounds. It was an entertaining game, that was led by Denver for most of the game. Denver let one slip away against the Wizards over the weekend , and they showed more hunger on Sunday.

Tonight's Preview:
7:00 PM EST Chicago Bulls (29-26) at Washington Wizards (19-34): The bulls try to make it five in a row tonight when Derrick Rose (19.9 ppg 5.7 apg 3.7 rpg) and the rest of the Bulls head to DC to play Andray Blatche (9.8 ppg and 5.3 rpg) and the Washington Wizards. Despite the Wizards recent transactions look for the Bulls to take this one on the road.

Atlanta Hawks (34-20) at Utah Jazz (36-19): Joe Johnson (21.6 ppg 4.5 apg 4.7 rpg) and the Hawks play their second consecutive road game in as many days. They visit Deron Williams (18.3 ppg 9.9 apg 4.2 rpg) and the Utah Jazz at home. The Hawks have lost two straight and look for them to drop a third as they come into play a talented Utah team, especially when they play at home.

9:00 PM EST Oklahoma Sooners (13-13) (4-8 Big 12) at #1 Kansas Jayhawks (26-1) (12-0 Big 12): Sherron Collins (15 ppg and 4 apg) and the Jayhawks take on Willie Warren (16.3 ppg and 4 apg) and the struggling Sooners. It's been no surprise to anyone with the leaving of Blake Griffin Oklahoma is not as powerful as they once were. With a struggling road and Big 12 record the Sooners have not had a great season. Look for the #1 Jayhawks to easily take on the Sooners as they visit Phog Allen.. PAY HEED

7:00 PM EST #8 West Virginia at Connecticut: De'Sean Butler (17.5 ppg and 6 rpg) lead WV against a disappointing UConn team. With talented players Jerome Dyson, Kemba Walker, and Stanley Robinson the Huskies have still had their fair share of struggles. The absence of Jim Calhoun did not help by any means either. Look for WV to take this game on the road.

Also the Knicks play again tonight... so TMAC watch will be on tonight... I am going to wish him good luck tonight

Spectacular Saturday and Sour Sundays

The first part of the post is dedicated to Tracy Mcgrady. To start this post let me give you a little background information on Tmac. Tracy McGrady was drafted ninth overall by Toronto Raptors in the 1997 NBA draft, he came straight from his Florida high school to the pros. Tmac had a slow start until the 1999-2000 NBA season Tracy had his first breakout year. With cousin Vince Carter the Raptors were a team with some serious young talent. Tracy was then traded to his home state to play with the Orlando Magic and Grant HIll. This is where it all started; with his breakout year Tmac was awarded with his first All-Star trip during the 2000-20001 season. On the Magic Tmac was know for a few things, he is known for impressive achievements such as being the NBA's back to back scoring leader during the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 seasons. He is also known for his infamous qoute in the first round of the playoff after leading 2-0 against the #1 seed Detroit "how wonderful it is to finally be in the position to advance to the second round (of the playoffs)." This quote would haunt Tmac till this day because he personally has never advanced passed the first round of the playoffs. After Orlando is when Tracy's career started to head down hill. After being traded to Houston in a seven player deal him and newly acquired center Yao Ming were the story line in Houston. After a few seasons of making it to the playoff and loosing in the first round Tmac's back spasms were affecting his game play. He came out and said that he did not think his body had what it takes anymore to be an explosive player in the NBA. While Tmac was on the injured reserve, Houston went on to win their first playoff series since 1997. February 18, 2009 Tracy McGrady announced he will be having knee surgery, and was never the same after that. After a few seasons of missing 15+ games it was said Tracy was coming back healthy. This offseason Tracy McGrady worked out very hard in Chicago with one of the best in the business, trainer Tim Grover. All his hard work led to the recent trade to the New York Knick's and his recent success in New York. Now that you know a little about Tracy Mcgrady, I would like to personally thank Tmac for reminding me what once all the hype was all about. It has been soo long since I have seen Tmac productive that I forgot what he actually played like. Last night was a showing of why Tmac's shoes used to be best sellers, why he was once Adidas biggest client, and why he was a favorite player for kids growing up all over the country. I know that it was only one game, and could end up meaning nothing, but even if Tracy from here on out does not ever have a productive game I am glad to have seen him show what he still still has what it takes to play in the NBA.

Today's Games:
12:00 PM EST #3 Villanova (22-3) (11-2 Big East) at #19 Pittsburgh (20-6) (9-4 Big East): Scottie Reynolds (18.9 ppg, 3.4 apg, 82% FT) and Villanova go on the road to face Pittsburgh for the first time since Scottie Reynolds Elite 8 miracle shot. Although most of the Pitt team that suffered the tough loss is no longer on the team, guard Ashton Gibbs (16.2 ppg, 2.1 apg, 90.2% FT) will try to defend their home court. I'm really not sold on Pitt this year, although they have been playing good. Even with great play out of Ashotn Gibbs I don't think the Panthers have what it takes. Look for Nova to take this tough Big East road game.

12:00 PM EST #9 Ohio State (20-7) (10-4 Big 10) at #11 Michigan State (21-6) (11-3 Big 10): Chicago native Evan Turner (19.5 ppg 5.8 apg 9.2 rpg) go to East Lansing to face Kalin Lucas (15.ppg and 3.9 apg) and the Spartans. Although the Izzone will be jumping I have to go with my home roots and pick Evan Turner and the Buckeyes to take this game on the road.

2:00 PM EST Northwestern (17-9) (6-8 Big 10) at #14 Wisconsin (19-7) (9-5 Big 10): Trevon Hughes ( 15.5 ppg 2.8 apg 4.6 rpg) and the Wisconsin Badgers play way too good at home for Northwestern and guard Jeremy Nash ( 9.1 ppg 3 apg 4.1 rpg) to win this Big 10 game on the road. I know the Wildcats are looking for their first NCAA tournament birth and a win at Wisconsin would be a quality win. I just don't think they have what it takes to beat the badgers at Kohl Center.

1:00 PM EST Cleveland Cavaliers (43-13) at Orlando Magic (37-19): After winning 13 in a row the Cavs look to end their current two game loosing streak. With a miserable game against Charlotte where newly acquired Antwan Jamison went a career worse 0-12, Lebron James (29.9 ppg 8.4 apg 7,1 rpg) come into Orlando to face Dwight Howard (18.4 ppg and 13.4 rpg) and the Magic. Look for the Cavs to take their the season series 3-0 vs Magic in today's Eastern Conference game.

3:30 PM EST Boston Celtics (35-18) at Denver Nuggets (36-19): Paul Pierce (18.2 ppg and 4.6 rpg) face Carmelo Anthony (29.3 ppg and 6.4 rpg) and the Denver Nuggets. Although the Celtics came into the Pepsi Centre and beat the Nuggets without Kevin Garnet, look for the Nuggets to walk away with the win in this one. With the Celtics age on this impressive West coast road trip, I dont think they have what it takes to win their 4th in a row.

Casual Friday

TRADE DEADLINE AFTERMATH:

1. Knicks (receive): Tracey McGrady and Sergio Rodriguez. Rockets(receive): Kevin Martin, Jordan Hill, Jared Jefferies, Hilton Armstrong, two possible first round picks. Kings: Carl Landry, Joey Doresey, and Larry Hughes. In this deal I got to pick the Rockets as the winners. Not only to they rid Kneemac and his contract, but add talent like Kevin Martin and young talent in Jordan Hill (Drafted from Arizona 2009-10). Not to mention they get two possible first round picks for the future.

2. 76ers: Jodie Meeks, Francisco Elon, and second round draft pick. Bucks: Royal Ivey and Primo Brezec.

3. Boston: Nate Robinson and Marcus Landry. Knicks: Eddie House, J.R. Giddens, and Bill Walker.

4. Bucks: John Salmons and right to switch first round picks. Bulls: Hakim Warrick and Joe Alexander.

5. Grizzlies: Ronnie Brewer. Jazz: Secure first round pick.

6. Bobcats: Tyrus Thomas. Bulls: Flip Murray, Acie Law, and first round pick.

7. Cavaliers: Antwan Jaminson and Sebastin Telfair. Wizards: Zydrunas Ilgauskas, rights to Emir Preldzic, 2010 first round pick, and Al Thorton. Clippers: Drew Gooden (sent to wizards in different trade). This was another interesting trade that will shake up things in the NBA. With the addition of Jaminson the Cavs get a player who career averages 20 a game. This is a player from NC that can still play, and solidifies the Cavs as one of the top teams in the NBA, and a force to be reckon with in the playoffs.

8. Knicks: Brian Cardinal. Timberwolves: Darko Milicic and cash.

9. Trailblazers: Marcus Camby. Clippers: Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake.

10. Wizards: Josh Howard, James Singleton, and Drew Gooden (from clippers). Mavericks: Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood, DeShawn Stevenson.

Tonight's NBA games:
8:00 PM EST Mavericks (33-21) (17-12 away) at Magic (37-18) (21-5 home): Dwight Howard ( 18.2 ppg, 13.4 rpg, 2.8 bpg) host the recently added Caron Butler (16.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.2 apg) and the Dallas Mavericks. A game of some of the NBA's elite teams look for Orlando to walk away with the win at home tonight.

9:00 PM EST Hawks (34-18) (13-12 away) at Suns (32-23) (18-7 home): The Hawks come into Phoenix looking for a win on the road. Now that Amare Stoudemire ( 21.4 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 1 bpg) is staying with the Suns (for now) will try to defend their home court vs Joe Johnson (21.5 ppg and 4.6 apg). Look for the Suns to win this hard fought game.

7:00 PM EST Cavaliers (43-12) (19-8 away) at Bobcats (26-26) (19-17 home): With the newley acquired Antwan Jaminson (20.5 ppg and 8.8 rpg) the Cavs go to Charlotte to face Stephen Jackson ( 20.8 ppg and 3.9 apg). Look for the Cavs to take this game on the road.

I would like to take this space to vent about Tiger Woods. People need to leave the guy alone and let him start living his life again. Today was his press conference and a teary eyed Tiger was shown on TVs all over the country. I started to have sympathy for Tiger when ESPN took his affairs and made them a world affair. Although I will say what he did was wrong, why are people acting like Tiger Woods is the first athlete to cheat on his wife? I just don't get it all these other athletes go on road trips and have girls to their room, but you don't hear about that. Another thing I can not stand hearing is if Tiger Woods is ever going to golf again. He IS going to golf again, but to no ones surprise he is getting his life together first. Tiger Woods does not need the PGA... the PGA NEEDS Tiger Woods. Without Tiger the PGA will basically never be watched by the average fan that only knows Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson (probably recognizing him from his terribly acting on Entourage). Even when it comes to money Tiger never has to worry again. The money that he has made from Nike alone is more than enough to support him for the rest of his life. LEAVE TIGER ALONE

The start of a marathon....

Although I find it hard to believe that anybody gets as much enjoyment from Gavin Floyd's 12-6 curve ball drop as I do, today I am going to blog something different. I am going to dedicate today's blog to the official start of Pitchers and Catchers reporting to Spring Training. Today is the day where all 30 major league teams head to Arizona or Florida, thinking they have what it takes to be the last team standing in October. A time of year where players at all levels of their careers find out if they will be watching games from their couch or playing in the games them selves. This also is an exciting time in the year for a few other reasons; I can already smell the fresh aroma coming from the crowded concessions, I can already hear the cracking sound of the bat from a frozen rope landing into left center field, and who could forget the popping sound of the catchers mitt after some 98 mph heat. I know some people feel that the World Series just ended, and it is way too early for the 162 game marathon to start, me on the other hand looks forward to all 162 games. As it may not be a secret to anyone the Whitesox are my team, and because they are my team I have to show some love. I am calling it here, the Whitesox will be 2010-11 AL Central Champions. You may think this is a bold prediction, but I cant find another team that competes. With one of the top pitching staffs/ bullpens (key additions include Jake Peavy and J.J. Putz) in the American League, the Whitesox have what it takes to take the division by storm and possibly repeat 2005. Defense was a question for the Whitesox last year, but with additions in the outfield such as Juan Pierre and Andruw Jones the Whitesox have added some good gloves and hopefully arm strength in Andruw Jones. Also with another year of experience under their belts for middle infielders Alexi Ramierz and Gordon Beckham expect them to have much better years in the field. Also the Whitesox added young and talented 3rd baseman Mark Tehan from Kansas City early in this years off season. Tehan has a good glove and his bat has alot of pop to it. These are the small kind of moves that makes GM Kenny Williams one of the elite in the MLB.

Back to the main picture... I will say the one thing about the baseball season that does tend to annoy me is ESPN goes from Entertainment and Sports Programming Network to East coast Sports Programming Network. ESPN seems to forget about the other 28 teams and focuses on the Red Sox vs Yankee's as if they played each other 162 times a year. Not to take anything away from this great rivalry and two great franchises that have mass amounts of success over the years, not only in winning, but with fan bases and great players. I personally feel that ESPN has put this rivalry on a level that none can match.

All in all.... I am very excited for this years upcoming season, and would like wish all teams/players good luck.

-I will continue in-season sports talk with tomorrows post.

Woeful Wednesday

Last Nights Recap
Mavericks 86 at Thunder 99: The Thunder start the 2nd half of the season in winning fashion, wining a quality game in Oklahoma City. Durantuala with 25 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocks led the way for OKC. Jeff Green, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden all adding 17 points each to the mix for the Thunder. For the Mavs it was Dirk Nowitzki leading the way with 24 points, nine rebounds, and six assist.

Suns 109 at Grizzlies 95: Grizzlies open up after the All Star break with a tough loss at home. Phoenix who is not very impressive on the road scored almost at will with Jason Richardson with 27 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and two steals leading the Suns. Amare Stoudemire possibly playing one of his last games with the suns added 21 points and 10 rebounds to the cause. Steve Nash also dishing in 16 assist. For Memphis although the double digit loss all starters scored double figures, with Zach Randolph leading the way with 18 points, 15 rebounds, and one steal.

#2 Kentucky 81 at Mississippi State 75: Before the game started Kentucky forward DeMarcus Cousins knew it was going to be a hostile enviorment for the game, after receiving over 400 text messages from rowdy Mississippi State fans. An overtime thriller, watching this game a fan got everything they would expect in a great game. Miss State played a tough game, and gave Kentucky a good run for their money. Patrick Patterson, DeMarcus Cousins, and John Wall all putting in double doubles. Kentucky as a team had 12 blocks and out rebounded the bulldogs but 20. Kentucky Struggled from behind the arc only shooting 4-24. Miss State standout forward Jarvis Varnado fouled out mid 2nd half, that was a big point in the game.

#11 Michigan State 72 at Indiana 58: Indiana looked lost in the game Michigan State. Even on their own home court the Hoosiers did not look like they should have been on the same court. Although only winning by 14, Michigan State was playing Walk-ons who never see the court at one point in the first half. Draymond Green led the way for the Spartans with 14 points, four rebounds, three assist, and one steal. Indiana did shoot an impressive 25-28 from the charity stripe, maybe that is how they kept the game from getting out of hand. Verdell Jones III led the way for the Hoosiers with 20 points, four rebounds, two assist, and one steal. Michigan State takes sole possession of first place in the Big 10.

Texas Tech 70 at #22 Baylor 88: With LaceDarius Dunn with 30 points, five rebounds, two steal, and two blocks, Baylor had no problem taking down David Tairu (16 points, one rebound, one assist) and the Red Raiders at home

Creighton 52 at #24 Northern Iowa: Northern Iowa clinches the MVC with their last win over Creighton at home.

#25 Wake Forest 83 at Virginia Tech 87: Although leading most of the game Wake Forest and Al-Farouq Aminu (25 points, 11 rebounds, two assist, one steal, two block) could not hold on against one of the ACC's top Malcom Delaney (31 points, nine rebounds, three assist, two steals) and Virginia Tech.

Tonight's previews:
6:30 PM EST #4 Purdue (21-3) (9-3 Big 10) at #12 Ohio State (20-6) ( 10-3 Big 10): Robbie Hummel (16.1 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 2.3 apg) and Purdue come into Columbus to face a very good Ohio State team. Ohio State and Evan Turner (19 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 5.8 apg) try to defend their home court, and stay in contention for the Big 10 title. Look for Ohio State to win this Big 10 battle.

7:00 PM EST #8 West Virginia (19-5) (8-4 Big East) at Providence (12-13) (4-9 Big East): Two Big East teams try to end their loosing streaks tonight. WV loosing its previous two battles, and Providence who has dropped their last five games. Da'Sean Butler (17.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 3.3 apg) and WV play a decent at best Providence team. Look for WV to take this game on the road.

9:00 PM EST #17 Texas (20-5) (6-4 Big 12) at Missouri (16-7) (6-4 Big 12): After the blowout of Nebraska in their last game Texas and Damian James (17.8 ppg and 10.8 rpg) come into Mizzou to face Kim English (14.8 ppg and 3.6 rpg) and Tigers. Look for Texas to take down Mizzou on the road.

9:00 PM EST: Suns (32-22) (14-15 away) at Mavericks (32-21) (15-9 home): With Amare Stoudemire (21.2 ppg and 8.6 rpg) possibly playing his last game in a Suns uniform, the Suns go into Dallas to take on Nowitzki (24.6 ppg and 2.5 apg) at home. With the Suns potent offense them playing their second road game in a row look for the Mavs to take this game at home.

10:30 PM EST Atlatnta Hawks (33-18) (12-12 away) at Los Angeles Clippers (21-32) (14-11 home): Joe Johnson ( 21.6 ppg and 4.6 apg) and the Atlanta Hawks come into LA to take on Baron Davis (15.6 ppg, 7.8 apg, 1.8 spg) and the Clippers. Should be a close game, but I am big fan of Joe Johnson. Look for the Hawks to take this game in LA.

7:30 PM EST Bulls (26-26) (10-17 away) at Knicks (19-33) (12-16 home): These two teams meet again same teams different city. This time they play in New York, Expect my team (the bulls) to win its second game in a row in New York tonight.

Tenacious Tuesday

Recap:
#1 Kansas 59 at #23 Texas A&M 54: I was a little nervous after the Jayhawks trailed 30-32 at Halftime with struggling Sherron Collins missing a wide open three point shot. I was even more nervous when the 17-0 statistic of games won for Texas Tech when they have the lead the game with under five minuets, as the clock ticked away. Sherron Collins struggling yesterday going 2-9 from the field with seven points. The Jayhawks as a team shot a miserable 1-10 from beyond the arc. Kansas center Cole Aldrich anchoring the Jayhawks with 12 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, and five blocks. Texas A&M got good games out of forward David Loubeau 17 points, nine rebounds, one steal, one block, one assist and guard Donald Sloan 15 points two assist. Although the tough conditions of College Station, Texas the Jayhawks head back to Lawrence with another victory and remains undefeated in the Big 12.

Connecticut 84 at # 3 Villanova 75: Scottie Reynolds and Villanova never really had "it" against the Huskies on big Monday. Kemba Walker leading the way for the Huskies scoring 29 points, nice rebounds, three assist, and two steals. Jerome Dyson also with another good game with 15 points and six assist. Nova trailed almost the whole game and really had no answer for the Huskies on their own home court. Scottie Reynolds with 18 points and three steals and guard Corey Fisher 14 points and four assist. One reason for the easy Big East upset may have been the Huskies shooting 44 free throws throughout the game making 35 of them.

Headlines:
NBA TRADE DEADLINE: With the trade deadline coming up this Thursday, look for some moves to be made. Right now the latest talks surround players such as Amare Stoudemire and Marcus Camby. A reported deal between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Portland Trailblazzers is supposedly "very close" to be being official. The trade will send Marcus Camby to Portland, and Steve Blake/ Travis Outlaw to LA.
The Amare talks are still in high heat as the Suns are taking offers from different teams to see the best offer. It is unlikely that the 76ers will part ways with Andre Igoudala which makes Amare going to the Cavs an even more real possibility. Amare has also been updating his Twitter account with updates telling any nay sayers that he can not only play with Shaq, but succeed with Shaq.
The New York Knick's are among one of the teams probably making a move this offseason and wants to clear up as much cap room as possible. The Knicks are even willing to trade last years first round pick Jordan Hill from Arizona who shows a lot of NBA potential.

Xavier Henry: Many people have asked if Kansas's star freshman will be Bill Self's one and done. If people may remember former Kansas star Brandon Rush was supposed to be Self's first one and done, and that did not end up happening. It has been no secret that Xavier has been a bit of a disappointment this year. With the exception to last nights game he has looked timid and his three point shot has not dropped in Big 12 play. Although his recent poor play Xavier has many of the skills to be ready to play in the NBA. One of his biggest asset is his size, Xavier has an NBA ready body and this alone could allow some NBA teams to draft him on that alone. I personally think that Xavier could use at least another year in college, and Kansas would love to have him for another year.

Tonight's Games:
8:00 PM EST Dallas Mavericks (32-20) (17-11 away) at Oklahoma City Thunder (30-21)(15-10 home): The start of the second half and we open with a tough game between two Western Conference teams. Dirk Nowitzki (24.6 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.1 bpg) will lead the Mavs into OKC against Kevin Durant (29.7 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 2.9 apg) and Russell Westbrook (16 ppg, 7.5 apg, 1.2 spg). Look for a good game, but I am going have to go with my man Durantuala to bring home the W in this game.

8:00 PM EST Phoenix Suns (31-22) (13-15 away) at Memphis Grizzlies (26-25) (18-8 home): Steve Nash (18.3 ppg, 11.1 apg) leads the suns into Memphis to play a tough Grizzlies team. Memphis having a good year fighting hard in the Western Conference, plays very well at home and the Suns do not play very well on the road. Also with this possibly being one of Amare's (21.2 ppg. 8.6 rpg, 1 bpg) last games as a Sun this may even further distract the Suns. Look for Grizzlies O.J. Mayo (17.7 ppg and 3.1 apg) and veteran Zach Randolph (20.5 ppg and 11.6 rpg) to lead Memphis to home win to start off the second half of the season.

9:00 PM EST #2 Kentucky (24-1) (9-1 SEC) at Mississippi State (18-7) (6-4 SEC): Freshmen John Wall (17 ppg, 6.4 apg, 3.8 rpg) and DeMarcus Cousins (15.9 ppg and 10.2 rpg) will play an extremely tough Miss State at home. Guard Ravern Johnson (13.7 ppg and 3.4 rpg) and forward Jarvis Varnado (13.3 ppg and 11.3 rpg) are trying to defend their home court and boost Miss State into more serious tourney talk. Five out of the Bulldogs seven losses come on the road, look for Kentucky to come and win the very close conference road game.

8:00 PM EST #11 Michigan State (20-6) (10-3 Big 10) at Indiana (9-15) (3-9 Big 10): Standout guard Kalin Lucas (15.8 ppg, 2 rpg, 3.9 apg) leads MSU into Bloomington on this Tuesday to face Maurice Creek (15.8 ppg and 3.8 rpg), Indiana's star guard. Look for MSU to win the Big 10 road game.

8:00 PM EST Texas Tech (16-8) (4-6 Big 12) at #22 Baylor (19-5) (6-4 Big 12): Baylor faces a good Texas Tech team on the road. Red Raiders Mike Singletary (15.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.3 apg) is looking to lead his team against a ranked Baylor team and LaceDarius Dunn (18.2 ppg and 4.5 rpg). Look for Baylor to take care of Tech at home.

8:05 PM EST Creighton (13-13) (8-7 MVC) at #24 Northern Iowa (22-3) (13-2 MVC): Center Kenny Lawson Jr. (12.7 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.3 apg) and the Blue Jays come in to take on Northern Iowa and forward Adam Koch (12.6 ppg and 4.6 rpg). Northern Iowa is coming off a tough loss on the road to Bradley and will not have standout center Jordan Eglseder. Even without one of their top players look for UNI to pull of the win.

7:00 PM EST #25 Wake Forest (18-5) (8-3 ACC) at Virginia Tech (20-4) (7-3 ACC): Wake Forest and Al- Farouq Minu (16.5 ppg, 10.9 rpg, 1.5 apg) play against a talented VT team at home. Malcom Delaney (19.2 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 4.2 apg) leads VT as both teams are looking for its fifth win on the road. Look for VT to win this ACC conference game.

BIg Monday

Yesterdays headlines:

#3 Syracuse drops games at home to Louisville:

# 8 Georgetown can not stick with Rutgers in New Jersey: Johnathan Mitchell for Rutgers setting career highs with 24 points, seven rebounds, one block, and two steals. Greg Monroe for Georgetown with another impressive game going 18 points, eight rebounds, six assist, and two steals. Georgetown had a chance at the end of the game to even up the game but faltered a last second shot.

Ohio State Easily Handles Illini in Champaign: Illinois has been on an impressive run as of late. With wining games against Michigan State and beating Wisconsin in Madison, the Illini looked to take down the Buckeyes to make it six games in a row. Well the Buckeyes had different plans with Evan Turner's line 16 points, 11 rebounds, eight assist, and one steal. The Buckeyes after the first half out scored the Illini 36-20. Illini star Dimitri McCamey with a decent game with nine points and nine assist.

East All stars pull it off over the Western All stars: Not to take anything away from the Eastern All stars, but I wonder if their two point victory had anything to do with the absence of Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, and Brandon Roy. Although always an entertaing game, I found it even better this year as the West All stars sported the four forward offense and the lone guard. All joking aside Dallas's All star weekend was an overall success (minus the Dunk contest).

Amare Stoudemire: There has been much trade talk this season with the much anticipated off-season this year. The most recent blockbuster deals that are in works is Cleavland has offered the Phoenix Suns a deal involving players Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson for Stoudemire. The Suns are supposedly waiting to hear from all teams before they pick the best offer. Its reported that a trade for players such as Samuel Dalembert and Andre Iguodala are the type of trade the Suns are willing to pull the trigger on.

Tyrus Thomas: Tyrus Thomas is another name that was mentioned with trades this weekend. The former first round pick from LSU is an explosive shot blocker and dunker that has extreme athleticism. Thomas has not worked for the bulls and are looking at teams like T-Wolves to make a deal with possibly including one of their three first round picks.

Today's Top College games:
9:00 PM EST #1 Kansas(24-1)(10-0 Big 12) at #23 Texas A&M(18-6) (7-3 Big 12): The Jayhawks travel to College Station to play a very talented Aggie team. Guard Donald Sloan (18.3 ppg, 4 rpg, 4apg) and forward Bryan Davis (10 ppg, 7 rpg, 1 apg) try to upset the number one Kansas Jayhawks in front of their home crowd. A&M is tied for second in the Big 12 with Kansas State. Look for Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich to lead to the Jayhawks to a tough Big 12 road win.

7:00 PM EST Connecticut(14-11) (4-8 Big East) at #3 Villanova (22-2) (11-1 Big East): Stanley Robinson (16 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and one asp) and Jerome Dyson (18.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 4.8 apg) and the struggling Huskies play at a tough Villanova. Villanova has been looked at as one of the elite teams in the country, and to continue to play at that level they need to continue doing business and take out Uconn. It has been no surprise how difficult of year it has been for the Huskies on the court and off, Look for Villanova to win at home.

Saturday sports day

I would like to apologize for today's shortness in posting. I have been extremely busy this weekend.

Last nights recap:
#22 Cornell 64 at Pennsylvania 79: This was a game that shocked me to say the least. An impressive Cornell team walks into 4-15 Penn and loses. Cornell was trailing one at half, but everyone felt they were going to be the team with more points at the end of the game, well that was not the case when the Quakers outscored the Big Red 47-33 in the second half. Penn also started off the half on an impressive 15-0 run. Cornell leaders senior center Jeff Foote (10 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks) and guard Ryan Wittman (16 points). Although having decent games it was not enough for Jack Eggleston (Penn) and his career high 24 points. Also Zach Rosen adding a helpful22 points and six assist.

#4 West Virginia 95 at #23 Pittsburgh 98: This clash of two ranked Big East teams was a game for the ages. It had just about every aspect to an exciting game. Intense three pointers, blown opportunities, executed opportunities, and a hostile enviorment. After loosing earlier in the year to West Virginia, Pitt was not going to let the same thing happen on their own home court. After three brutal overtimes WV leaders Da'Sean Butler (32 points, 11 rebounds, three assist) and Devin Ebanks (17 points, 10 rebounds) suffered the tough conference loss on the road. WV although controlling most of the game, could not keep Pitt's Ashton Gibbs and Brad Wanamaker (24 points each) from keeping Pitt in the game long enough to make a late game run. Pitt star Gilbert Brown also knocking down crucial free throws to end the game.

Today's intriguing top 25:

8:00 PM EST Iowa State (13-11) (2-7 Big 12) at #1 Kansas (23-1) (9-0 Big 12): Every KU basketball game is a big game in Lawrence. #1 Kansas hosts Big 12 foe Iowa State at The Allen Field House. Kansas leaders Sherron Collins (15.6 ppg, 2.1 rpg, and 4.3 apg) and Cole Aldrich (11.4 ppg, 10 rpg, and 3 bpg) will be looking to lead KU to a victory over Craig Brackins (16.8 ppg, 8.4 rpg, and 2.3 asp) and the Cyclones. Look for Kansas to win this game with relative ease playing one of Big 12's up and coming teams at home.

9:00 PM EST #12 Tennessee (18-5) (6-3 SEC) at #2 Kentucky (23-1) (8-1 SEC): Tennessee is not sure what they are going to get themselves into tonight in Lexington. Demarcus Cousins and John Wall will lead this Kentucky Wildcat team to a victory at home in front of the Wildcat faithful.

2:00 PM EST Providence (12-12) (4-8 Big East) at # 5 Villanova (21-2) (10-1 Big East): Villanova is playing a weaker Providence team in Philly. Although Providence has shown strength at times, they will not have enough to take down Scottie Reynolds and Nova at home today.

8:00 PM EST #20 Georgia Tech (17-7) (5-5 ACC) at Wake Forest (17-5) ( 7-3 ACC): Derrick Favors and Iman Shumpert go on the road today to face Al-Farouq Aminu and Wake Forrest. Wake Forrest has shown promise at times and disappointment at others. Look for GT to offer too much and take this conference game on the road.

Preview of tonight top 25

9:00 PM EST #4 West Virginia (19-4) (8-3 Big East) at Pittsburgh (18-6) (7-4 Big East): Sophomore standout Devin Ebanks (11.2 ppg, 8.6 rpg, and 1.2 spg) and Senior forward go on the road to play a tough Pitt team. WV is coming of a tough loss to Villanova in Morgantown and are - 3 for this upcoming game. Pitt also has a standout Sophomore in Ashton Gibbs averaging 16.5 ppg, and coming of a 20 point performance when Pitt routed Robert Morris in their previous game. Look for WV to play hard after the tough loss and win in Pitt.

#22 Cornell (20-3) (6-0 Ivy) at Pennsylvania (3-15) (2-2 Ivy) 7:00 PM EST: Cornell has been one of the suprise teams this year. After playing Kansas very tough in Lawrence, the Big Red have won eight in a row, and are on a roll. Alot of this seasons success can be given senior center Jeff Foote who averages 12.7 ppg, 8.6 rpg, and 1.9 bpg. Also senior foward Ryan Wittman from Eden Prarie, MN averages 17.3 ppg. Penn is looking for its first home win of the season. They were given +16.5 on their own home court tonight. Look for Cornell to easily win this game, and possibly cover a big spread on the road.

NBA players look towards break... So am I

Last nights recap: Orlando Magic 106 vs Cleavland Cavaliers 115: Is anyone else very impressed with the latest Cavaliers run? The Cleavland Cavaliers went on to win their 13th game in a row last night in front of 20,000 plus, hosting the Orlando Magic. The Cavs played yet another impressive game outscoring Orlando by 16 in the paint and shooting a satisfactory 52% (FG%). Lebron James leads the way for the Cavs with 32 points 13 assist and eight rebounds. J.J. Hickson has another impressive game putting up 20 points in 27 minutes. Dwight Howard led it for the Magic with 19 points 11 rebounds and two blocks. Rashard Lewis also helping the cause with 19 points. One factor that affected Orlando was the 13 turnovers they committed to the Cavs six turnovers. Both teams had five players each in double figures.

San Antonio Spurs 111 vs Denver Nuggets 92: Perhaps Denver took an extra day off for their All Star break. The Nuggets team last night did not look like the Nuggets team that ran the Lakers a week ago and the Nuggets team that has showed up for most of the season thus far. The Nuggets were outscored in every quarter on their own home court. The Spurs were on the road, and even without their starting point guard Tony Parker they got the job done. IUPI Jaguars alum George Hill took the start for Tony Parker, and did a great job filling in. Hill's line consisted of 16 points, seven rebounds, and four assist. Hill was one of all five starters to score in double figures and one of seven overall members of the Spurs that scored double figures. Tim Duncan's line: 16 points, seven rebounds, and one block. The Nuggets really missed presence of veteran forward Kenyon Martin. Nuggets were outscored by 24 points in the paint, and K-Marts sub (Malik Allen) had six points and three fouls after 24 minutes of game time. Also missed Martin's defense as spurs counterpart DeJuan Blair puts up 17 points and nine rebounds. Denver shot 34% from the field and an atrocious 16% from behind the arc.

Saint Mary's 61 vs #11 Gonzaga 80: Gonzaga now owns sole possession of first place in the WCC. Last night Gonzaga took down good Saint Mary's team with relative ease. Although only leading by one at half, the Bulldogs hunkered down and had a very successful second half. Saint Mary's standout Omar Samhan with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and one block. Saint Mary's committed 16 turnovers in the game and shot a dismal 37% from the field. Gonzaga on the hand shot 54% from the field and committed six less turnovers than the Gaels. Matt Bouldin for Zaga had 18 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Also Freshman forward Elias Harris had 19 points, four rebounds, and two steals.

#15 Butler 68 vs Youngstown State 57: The 15-0 (in conference play) Butler Bulldogs clinched the Horizon league last night with a relatively easy win at Youngstown last night. Although it being a close game at halftime, it was made very sure who was going to win the game in the second half. Sophomore Gordon Hayward put up 27 points, a career high 17 rebounds, and two blocks. Matt Howard also added 11 points for Butler. Butler shot 56% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc. They also out rebounded the penguins by nine. Youngstown State's leading scorer DeAndre Mays 18 points and three rebounds.

Headlines around the leagues:
Calhoun to return after missing seven games: I hope all is well and wish the best for legendary coach Jim Calhoun's health, but it may be too late for his Uconn Huskies to possibly even make the tournament, the Huskies are 14-10 and their only impressive win was overrated Texas. With games at Villanova and at home versus WV and South Florida, it looks as if the Huskies may just be NIT bound this year.

Kobe/Iverson out of All star game: If anyone was concerned, Allen Iverson will not be playing in this years All Star game... Thank God. I like Allen Iverson but personally I feel the guy needs to know his limits. He once was a great player, he was a prolific scorer, and what he did with those Philly teams in his prime was fantastic. Allen Iverson needs to learn what many basketball stars have trouble realizing. His time is over. I will give AI props in the sense that he leaves the game to take care of his daughter, and wish him and his family the best of health. Mavericks guard Jason Kidd and Knicks David Lee will be replacing the two players.

Patino or Coach K are not the answer for the struggling Nets: When looking at Rick Pitino I see an older man who has had a wonderful college coaching career. Rick Pitino was once a NBA coach, and for the Knicks did a decent job. When Pitino went to the Celtics the seas were not as smooth. When I look at this Nets team you see a miserable team that is not at a complete loss. Wisconsin alum Devin Harris is one of the leagues top PG and Brook Lopez is one of the leagues up and coming big men. The Nets are also looking at the first pick in the draft, which is looking to be talented Kentucky guard John Wall. The Nets need a coach that with success, a coach that can come in ignore this seasons results and help this team start over and learn to win again.

Derrick Rose X-rays: Derrick Rose's back X-ray came back negative (THANK GOD), and D-Rose is debating if he will in fact participate in the upcoming All Star Game,

Big Hurt to retire: Although its not baseball season I will always look for an excuse to talk about my favorite sport, and especially my favorite team. White Sox great Frank Thomas (The Big Hurt) will annoucne his retirement today. On August 2nd of this year will be Thomas's 20th year since starting with the Whitesox. I have lots of love for Frank Thomas, going to White sox games growing up Frank Thomas was always the fan favorite. Who didn't love the guy that preferred swining a metal pole instead of a bat in the on deck circle. Frank Thomas in my opinion should be a first ballot Hall of Famer, and I don't think he will have any issues is 2014 the first year he is illegible. I would like congratulate Frank Thomas on his career, and wishes him the best with the rest of his career (which hopefully consist of doing something for the White Sox organization).

NBA Trade Buzz: We have heard countless names going to the Cleavland Cavaliers this year names such as Antwan Jaminson and Amare Stoudamire to the Cavs. Recently names such as Troy Murphy and even TMAC have been reported. The newest name to the list is Detroit's Rip Hamilton.

Nasty Nate Robinson: The little barking Chiwawa Nate Robinson will be defending his title in this years slam dunk contest. There was question if Robinson would participate because of his recent groin issues.

Vinny Del Negro: Head coach of the Chicago Bulls Vinny Del Negro has been coaching for two years and has almost lost his job twice. With the Bulls playing respectable basketball, and currently owing the eight spot in the less than adequate Eastern Conference, Vinny Del Negro said that he expects to be fired after this year, and thinks he will not be with the team next year.

KU basketball: I love Kansas Basketball. What is not to love, Great tradition, Great fan base, Great arena (Allen Field House), and most important an absolutely stacked team. There are reports that UNC- Wilmington is interested in top KU assistant coach Joe Dooly. Dooly most widely recognized for leading the campaign to bring Xavier Henrey and both the Morris twins to Lawrence. If this were to happen Danny Manning would fill in very nicley in his spot, and would be a natural recruiter.

Now that the first half of the NBA season is done and over with I look forward to hopefully an intriguing All Star weekend and second half of the season.

First Post

Welcome to the first posting of the Iz-ness. Everyday I will list the top games and news stories of the day and give my input on them. I will also give my input if you were betting on the games and need another persons opinion. I will also talk about the results of the games the following day.

Today's NBA games:
8:00 PM EST Orlando Magic (36-17) at Cleavland Cavaliers (42-11): A battle of the Eastern Conference's finest. Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic come into Cleavland not only riding a two game winning streak, but also having won the last 8 out of 10 games. They will be trying to end the Cavaliers current 12 game wining streak.

10:30 PM EST San Antonio Spurs (29-21) at Denver Nuggets (35-17): The thus far disappointing San Antonio Spurs go into the Mile High city to take on a very high scoring Denver Nuggets team. The Nuggets come into this game winning their last 7 out of 10 games including a good victory over Dallas. The Spurs come into this game loosing the last 6 of 10 games, and dropping their last game in Phoenix.

NCAA Men Top 25:

11:00 PM EST Saint Mary's (21-3) at #11 Gonzaga (19-4): Gonzaga has a tough conference game ahead as the WCC first place Gaels stomp into Spokane. Saint Mary's have won six games since coming off the seven point loss earlier in the year to Gonzaga. Gonzaga the second place team in the WCC is looking for a win to give them sole possession of first place.

7:05 PM EST #15 Butler (21-4) at Youngstown State (8-15): The Horizon league top ranked Butler Bulldogs go on the road to face a weaker conference opponent. Gordon Hayword and the Bulldogs will go into Youngstown winning the last 13 games after dropping to UAB earlier in the season. The Youngstown State Penguins come into this game dropping the previous game to last place UIC.

Lines/Predictions:

Orlando at Cleavland: Orlando is +6 going into Cleavland tonight. Although they have been playing good basketball the Cavs at home are too much to handle for these Magic. Orlando will be playing its second consecutive road game, and to their dismay they have to play it against 23-3 (home record) Cavaliers. The fresh Cavaliers will be at home well rested looking to extend their winning streak to 13 games. Look for the Cavaliers to cover and win.

San Antonio at Denver: San Antonio has had its fair share of problems this year. Whether it is injuries, skill level, or just age they have not been the team many expected. On the road the San Antonio Spurs are 10-11. They are +5.5 against a high scoring 23-4 at home Denver Nuggets. You can expect usual games out of players such as Carmello Anthony (who is now back for his second game after missing eight in a row), Chauncey Billups, and Kenyon Martin. Even with the help of Double Double man Tim Duncan and speedy guard Tony Parker look for the Nuggets to put up points and cover the spread. Also if your in CO make sure you stop by Taco Bell if the Nuggets get their 100 points tonight.

Saint Mary's at #11 Gonzaga: This is going to be a tough game for both teams. The current 8-1 first place Saint Mary's Gaels look to show the rest of the country that this is the year they win the WCC. After loosing in a tough game to Gonzaga earlier in the season, look for Senior Center Omar Samhan and Junior Guard Mickey McConnell to work extra hard in this game. Gonzaga is - 6 for this game on their home court. Although Saint Mary's will provide some trouble for Gonzaga, Senior Guard Matt Bouldin will be on his game along with the other talented members of the Gonzaga basketball team. Look for Saint Mary's to cover the spread, but loose the game to Zaga.

#15 Butler at Youngstown State: Butler will have no problem controlling the tempo of this game. Although the game is away they are going to face a struggling, to say the least, Youngstown State team. In Youngstown previous game they lost to last ranked(and my parents Alma Mater) Illinois-Chicago (UIC). This was disappointing to say the least even for the 2-11 Horizon League Penguins. Look for Butler to cover the 13 points and win the game.
