The Eve of a Great Day

Even though the start of the Major League Baseball started tonight... the rest of the teams head into action tomorrow.

Tomorrow is a special day; the start of the 162 game marathon. The beauty in a day like tomorrow is every team is in 1st place. It doesn't matter if you were in the cellar of your division, worst pitching team in the league, best pitching team in the league, hell it doesn't even matter if your the Yankees. Every team that steps onto the baseball diamond tomorrow will have the same record. That's gotta give some confidence to those teams that barley crept over 60 wins last year...

Now obviously there are better teams than others in baseball.. those teams will win there 85+ games a year (in some leagues... 90+ in others). Lots of these teams made it to the post season and all but one failed to win the ever prestigious "World Series Champion" title. These teams come into opening day feeling optimistic (most should... statistics are on their side) they feel as if they are entitled to another good season.

Then there is that "other" bunch of teams. This is what is exciting about the MLB. The bunch of teams that won anywhere from 65-83 games last year. Teams that may have just been missing that "one thing" to take them to the next level, teams that suffered from multiple injuries, teams that needed to make that minor off season adjustment to take you to the next level, exc. Most of these teams will emerge out of "nowhere" to the casual MLB fan, but to that team's die hard fan this the kind of season they have been expecting. This is the team that will take the the lead by storm and shock the rest of the division. This is the kind of team that can mess with one of those better teams on any given day. This is the beauty in baseball like most sports. Any given day anyone can take anyone down.

Now If you didn't know I am a Whitesox fan, have been my whole life. I know that everyone on the North Side of Chicago (Cubs) always says " There is always next year.." Well tomorrow is the start of next year..
