Lebotched decision

Lebron James has finally made his decision, people can now go back to living their everyday life. I on the other hand have not been able to stop thinking about this decision. Although I am against the decision for James to go play in Miami, that is not why I am posting. Lebron James handled this situation probably the worse one could. Not only did he disrespect the teams that went out of their way to cater to Lebron during this time, but the way he treated the Cav's was unacceptable in my opinion. The Cleavland Cavaliers were slapped across the face by Lebron James. I understand Lebron James is a grown man and can decide to play where ever his soul desires, but the way he handled his business was not right. First off the national televised decision was not the right way to go. Star studded players such as Dwayne Wade and Amare Stoudamire had no problem just announcing their decision, no body else needed to hold an event for a decision that was dragged out and stabbed some hundred times by ESPN. Lebron is flashy, so what, I can get over that. The major disrespect started well before that. Cleavland is James's home town. The meaning of Lebron James to Cleavland is uncomparable to any other sports star to a city. The city has been riddled with sports let downs throughout its history, and the people of Cleavland get let down once again. Lebron did not respond in any way to the Cavs owner Dan Glibert after their meeting earlier last week. Dan Gilbert is a man who we will probably never know the extent to which he helped Lebron. With Lebron coming from high school, I could just imagine what Dan Gilbert has done for not only Bron, but his friends and family. At the absolute least he needed to call Gilbert some time before yesterday's decision to tell him the plan. I personally feel that the Cavs at least deserved that. Instead they were betrayed and humiliated by their "king" on national television. I feel for the city of Cleavland today, and actually hope them the best. Many of you have seen Gilbert's response to " the decision" and although harsh, I do feel it needed to be said. Gilbert just lost the person who raised the Cavs value $100 million since coming into the league. He along with the city of Cleavland feels betrayed and for good reason. This response is a nice summary of the way northeastern Ohio is feeling on this Friday morning. I never felt Lebron was actually going to leave Cleavland. Whats done is done. Although I do not agree with the way the situation was handled, I do respect the fact that winning is important to Lebron James. We hear winning is everything, but this is one of the first times we see a star of his caliber put money off the side and share the spotlight with two others.

NBA Finals

So I sit here on this Friday morning awaiting the start of the first World Cup game to start, and I still keep thinking about the NBA playoffs. The series is now even at two a piece as we head back to Los Angeles. The Lakers have the edge in the series with a chance to regain the series lead with a win on its home court. The Celtics may have caught a small break with the chance that Andrew Bynum does not play in this crucial final game. In order for the Celtics to win game five not only will the Celtics have to show up to play, but more importantly they need Paul Pierce to step up and live up to the name "the truth." Ray Allen will hit his shots, Rondo will continue his excellent play, and we always know KG will provide the energy. I was a little surprised, I felt after the Celtics won game two they would head home to win both games. Obviously this did not happen, and only time will tell who will be hoisting the trophy at the end of the year.

Also would like to once again congratulate the Chicago Blackhawks for not only bringing a Championship back to Chicago, but for softening the blow for how pathetic Chicago baseball is this year.

NBA Finals

Posting to say how surprised I am that the Lakers lost game two. I am not a fan of either of these teams, and being honest I would rather see the Celtics win it. I think the Celtics last night just proved to the Lakers how series they actually are. Phil Jackson's pedigree is nothing to laugh at, having never lost a series after winning a game one at home, Phil is gotta be feeling a little nervous. Now alright the series is tied 1-1, and many probably feel the Lakers still got this in the bag. I on the other hand would not feel too sure if that was my team. If Boston takes care of business at home this series will be very interesting. I will post back with my game three thoughts.

After 22 years in the Big Leagues, Ken Griffey Jr. is calling it quits. Ken Griffey may be known by the casual fan for a few things. Some people may remember him from his frustrating injury problems year after year, some may remember him for having the sweetest swing of a baseball bat to this day, and if your from my generation you obviously know Ken Griffey Jr. from his hit N64 games Ken Griffey Baseball. All joking aside, I will always remember Griffey as one of the greatest players every to put on a uniform. Griffey ending his career with 630 home runs (fifth all time) makes it no secret that if Ken could of stayed healthy he may have shattered now Barry Bonds home run record*. Ending as a career .284 and 1836 RBI's. Ken Griffey Jr. will be a shoe in for the Hall of Fame. Although this year was a rough one for Ken with the struggling at the plate and his off the field problems have made him come to a decision before the All-Star break. Non the less Ken Griffey Jr. was and will be know as one of the greatest players of all time. I will never forget what his presence has brought alone to Major League Baseball. Congrats Ken and good luck.

RIP Jose Lima

Today I wanted to say RIP to former all star pitcher Jose Lima. Lima spent 13 years in the MLB, and passed away at the age of 37. Mostly remembering Jose Lima from his stints in Kansas City and LA, he also played for Tigers, Astros, Dodgers, and Mets during his 13 year career. Although all of his career was not filled with pride and glory he did lead the Dodgers to their first playoff win in 16 years in 2004. Lima having his best year in LA (2004) as he went 13-4 with a 4.07 ERA. In that year he was a non-roster invitee. Some of you might remember the Jose Lima that gave up a slam to Dontrelle Willis, and the next day was DFA. Unfortunately it is games like that or his 0-4 record with a 9.87 ERA with the Mets, that people remember Lima for.

Lima was found dead in his Pasadena home Sunday and was pronounced dead Sunday. Jose recently was invited to go on the field between innings at a Dodgers game, and was given a more than friendly welcome from the Los Angeles faithful. It is a sad day for the MLB as they loose not only a baseball player but an overall stand up person. The always cheerful and charismatic Lima will be missed by all. RIP.

Bron to Chicago?

Well since everyone and their mother is talking about Lebron and where he will go in this years much anticipated NBA off season, Ill throw in my two sense. Now lets not get this twisted, I would absolutely love to see Lebron in Chicago, what Chicagoan wouldn't want that? But we have to look at this realistically; today is Friday May 14th and we have yet to even start the Conference Finals. People have somehow already decided where Lebron will be playing his games next year. The truth of the matter is NO ONE knows where Lebron James will be playing basketball next year. He probably has no idea where he will be next year. Now obviously you can eliminate a good amount of teams that will not be getting Lebron, but EVERY team will be interested in Lebron James this summer (obviously).

Watching ESPN the last few days there has been much talk to about Lebron heading to the Bulls. With the word of a few of ESPN's "Phantom GM's" (there is always at least one unnamed GM that always confirms ESPN stories) have said with the Bulls young nucleus could be the ideal place to come and try to win multiple Championships. Not to mention playing in the greatest city in world. There is also been talk of a possible Sign and trade with the Bulls being able to offer teams players like Loul Deng (who we would int trade to the Lakers for Kobe a few years back), Taj Gibson, and Kirk Hinrich.

here are some of the reasons for telling people not to get too excited, For one this decision is nowhere ready to being made. Lebron is not deciding this week, next week, or next month. Give it a few weeks and they will probably have a new set of possible destinations for LBJ.

If I had to guess where Lebron will be playing next season I would say Cleavland. I say this for multiple reasons. Lebron James was born in Ohio, raised in Ohio, and grew up a fan of Cleavland sports. He was drafted as the Number one overall pick to his own hometown. What more does a sport star want when it comes down to it. Money? Well that wont be his reason for leaving the Cavs. Besides the fact that he makes an absurd amount of money already from endorsements, the Cavs can offer James more than any other team can. Thanks to the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement the Cleavland Cavaliers can offer LBJ more money and more years than any other team due to the fact that he is still under contract with the Cavs.
